ImiCareer
This project’s proposition was to create a cross platform responsive design for a system named ImiCareer that aims to provide information about career choices for immigrants.
Hi and welcome to another project. This one is really wholesome! Let's stick together as we move through this presentation!
Project overview
Research findings
I did an unmoderated usability study to ascertain wether users would find the design easy to follow as well as welcoming and engaging or not - the former being the initial assumption. I`m happy to say the, besides some adjustments, that assumption was on target.
Preliminary studies resulted in two main personas:
Elena Pérez
Age: 42
Education: Biology Major B.S.
Hometown: Mexico City, Mexico
Occupation: Unemployed
“Dreams? I dream about it all!”
Problem statement: Elena is an unemployed immigrant who needs to find a career tutor because she lacks the information about how to land a good job.
Rithvik Das
Age: 31
Education: High School diploma
Hometown: Chennai, India
Occupation: Cook
“My family is my treasure.”
Problem statement: Rithvik is a recently arrived immigrant, father of two, who needs to informed about career change because he wants a better paying job.

What I learned
The problem that I tried to solve is not a simple one. However, good design can and will be a tool for social good, if correctly used. That is, I reckon, the best lession I’ve had so far with this project.
Next steps
-
to perform another usability test after the final prototypes.
-
a user survey might be essential to understand how users are going to perceive the finished design.
